WNC Wins 2025 SEAL Environmental Initiative Award at First Attempt

Hsinchu, February 12, 2025 – Leading network communications company WNC (Wistron NeWeb Corporation) has again been recognized for its sustainability performance with an international award. Our “Driving Low-carbon Transformation Through Green Design” project garnered the SEAL Environmental Initiative Award, making WNC the only Taiwan company to receive this honor this year. Each year, the SEAL (Sustainability, Environmental Achievement & Leadership) Awards recognize companies and journalists around the globe that make measurable contributions to sustainable development. The Environmental Initiative Award honors projects that facilitate environmental progress, demonstrate leadership, and help achieve a sustainable future. Past winners include AMD, Cisco, and Qualcomm. We won this award on our first entry, a testament to our commitment to sustainability.

To optimize its sustainable transformation, WNC has developed green network communications products and redesigned production processes to incorporate environmental factors into product development, allowing the company to mitigate environmental impact across product lifecycles. With smarter designs, products become more cost-effective and environmentally friendly. At the same time, WNC has invested much effort into improving its waste collection and disposal processes. WNC's Vietnam site obtained a platinum rating in the UL 2799's Zero Waste to Landfill validation program at the end of 2024, with a landfill waste diversion rate of 100%. WNC reduces its carbon emissions through different measures, and utilizes training courses, lectures and activities to encourage employees and all supply chain partners to embrace environmental awareness and green innovation. Additionally, by leveraging dialogue, evaluations, and audits, WNC strengthens the engagement and responsiveness of its supply chain partners.

WNC’s commitment to sustainable development is reflected in every aspect of our business operations. All business units at WNC place an emphasis on green products during their strategy formulation process and our CEO and top-tier managers participate in decision-making processes related to sustainable transformation. The Board of Directors has approved environmental sustainability, energy management and water resource management policies. WNC conducts internal audits and third-party verifications every year to ensure compliance with international standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 14064, ISO 50001, IECQ QC080000, and reviews its performance while continuing to improve related management systems. In addition, the Sustainable Development Committee, which is directly under the Board of Directors, is responsible for regularly reviewing climate-related regulations and aligning internal and external initiatives and resources. The Committee also tracks carbon reduction performance and boosts the Board of Directors’ efficiency in conducting sustainable governance.

Jeffrey Gau, President & CEO of WNC, said, “Climate change has become a core issue worldwide. In response to this, WNC has adopted green design and production, and implemented low-carbon material selection and carbon management systems. We have incorporated sustainability concepts throughout the entire product lifecycle to enhance our sustainable operation abilities and fulfill our commitment to environmental protection.” WNC is devoted to providing customers with energy-efficient products and production services, striving to create a healthy and sustainable future with our peer network communications companies.
