Hsinchu, February 26, 2025 — The CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) recently announced the assessment scores of companies that disclosed their environmental data to CDP in 2024. WNC achieved an A- (Leadership level) rating in both the climate change and water security questionnaires. This achievement is a testament to WNC's excellence in environmental governance and affirms the company’s position as a global leader in sustainability.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the CDP, and in 2024 more than 24,800 companies, representing about two-thirds of global market value, reported their environmental data to CDP, responding to CDP questionnaires on climate change, forests and water security. WNC discloses data on its actions and achievements regarding climate change mitigation and water resource management to customers through CDP, and it has also implemented innovative projects to enhance its environmental governance and improve its performance in CDP assessments. In 2024, WNC made significant progress in TCFD-related areas, including analysis of climate and water resource risk scenarios, quantification of the financial impact of climate risks, and biodiversity risk assessment. In the same year it also implemented the TNFD framework and used the LEAP risk assessment approach in the framework to evaluate the environmental impact of its supply chains. WNC has also completed GHG emissions inventory at all sites, obtained third-party verification for said inventory, and used its supplier management platform to coordinate efforts in implementing carbon reduction measures, all with the aim of enhancing its sustainability governance framework.
Highlights of WNC’s performance in CDP’s 2024 assessment:
- Climate change questionnaire (16 question groups): WNC received an A- rating or higher in 10 question groups, covering topics such as TCFD recommended disclosures, GHG emissions inventory and corporate governance.
- Water security questionnaire (11 question groups): WNC received an A- rating or higher in seven question groups, covering topics such as water resource management, operational strategies and water risk management strategies.
Based on SBTi standards, WNC is committed to reducing 42% of Scope 1 and 2 emissions and 25% of Scope 3 emissions by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2050. Moreover, WNC is devoted to achieving 100% renewable energy use by 2040 based on the RE100 initiative. It has also implemented internal carbon pricing, low-carbon material selection and carbon management systems to further collaborate with supply chain partners in reducing carbon emissions and expand its contribution to global sustainable development.
